I've not been to Quanjude but my Beijing colleagues were very reticent to take me there, and other than one visit to Dadong, they preferred Ya Wang. Have you been there?Mr Noodleshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13327242172810414292noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8659859995099007525.post-36963651746653319802011-04-06T12:56:00.596+01:002011-04-06T12:56:00.596+01:00I never tried this place. Dadong was super pricey and definitely a "place to be seen" I thought.Monster Munchhttp://themonstermunch.blogspot.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8659859995099007525.post-15444931966766045542011-04-05T07:58:00.780+01:002011-04-05T07:58:00.780+01:00Gworm - I'm an old romantic too, and I absolut...Gworm - I'm an old romantic too, and I absolutely believe that certain food tastes better depending on where you eat it.

On your second point, I found it quite ironic that Zen China, where I enjoyed my meal, pulls in tourists, whilst Viet Grill, where I didn't, is a favoured haunt of London foodies. Fish and chips on the harbour is always going to taste twice as good. Do you think the same holds true for the duck?

Glad you've found a good 'un in London, and in the old County Hall too. I would always have stayed away due to tourist trap fears. Roasting wise, marination and duck selection, etc, we can still get some pretty decent ones outside of Beijing : )Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15951478222064972637noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8659859995099007525.post-82155488849657502312011-04-04T06:57:57.199+01:002011-04-04T06:57:57.199+01:00Nice recommendation.
